Beschreibung

2-Methyl-Oxazole-4-carbaldehyde is a hydrogen bonding compound that can be used to measure glucose concentrations in the blood. The protonation of the amide group in this molecule is pH dependent, and the resulting redox potentials are sensitive to changes in pH. 2-Methyl-Oxazole-4-carbaldehyde can be used to monitor the redox potential of cells, which may be due to its cytostatic effects or enzymatic reactions. This compound has stable complexes with palladium, which catalyze coupling reactions leading to organometallic compounds. 2-Methyl-Oxazole-4-carbaldehyde has been shown to have a high affinity for chloride ions and can act as an intramolecular hydrogen bond acceptor.
