- Benzaldehyde, p-(p-methoxyphenoxy)-
- Benzaldehyde, 4-(4-methoxyphenoxy)-
4-(4'-Methoxyphenoxy)benzaldehyde is a crystalline solid that is soluble in organic solvents. It has a molecular formula of C9H8O2 and a molecular weight of 154.15 g/mol. 4-(4'-Methoxyphenoxy)benzaldehyde is used as a catalyst for the conversion of diarylethers to alkylphenols, which are used in the production of polyurethane foams. When acid treated, it can be reused many times and is stable under acidic conditions. The catalytic activity of 4-(4'-methoxyphenoxy)benzaldehyde can be increased by adding other catalysts such as boron trifluoride etherate or titanium tetrachloride. This compound also has been studied for its use in carbon nanotubes and as an anticorrosive agent on metal surfaces.
