1-Methyl-1H-tetraazole is a complex molecule with the molecular formula CHN. It is a covalent inhibitor that inhibits the activity of enzymes by binding to their active site, thereby blocking the transfer of electrons. 1-Methyl-1H-tetraazole binds to copper and is used as a proton donor in the presence of anions such as chloride or bromide ions. The bacteriological efficacy of this compound has been demonstrated through studies on Gram-negative pathogens and temperatures, which have shown that it is most active at 37 degrees Celsius. This compound has been shown to be effective against bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. 1-Methyl-1H-tetraazole may also be metastable at room temperature, meaning that it can decompose into other compounds over time.
