Beschreibung

(S)-Morpholine-3-carboxylic acid is an organic compound that is a chiral, cinnamyl-substituted morpholine. It is a reaction yield enhancer for the synthesis of phenylpropionic acid. (S)-Morpholine-3-carboxylic acid can be synthesized from sodium hydroxide and morpholine in the presence of acetic anhydride. This compound has been used in the amination of aldehydes with sodium cyanoborohydride and alkyl amines. The sequence of reactions for this process is as follows: (1) Alkylation of the carbonyl group with an alkyl halide, (2) Hydrolysis to produce an ester, (3) Acidification to produce a carboxylic acid, and (4) Amidation with ammonia or an amine to produce the final product.
