Beschreibung

2,2'-Methylenebis(6-tert-butyl-4-ethylphenol) is a polycarboxylic acid that is a precursor for the production of polyvinyl chloride. It has been shown to have toxic effects on gland cells in rats and mice. The toxicity of 2,2'-Methylenebis(6-tert-butyl-4-ethylphenol) is dose dependent and may be due to its ability to induce the release of cytokines from macrophages, which are cells that defend against foreign substances. 2,2'-Methylenebis(6-tert-butyl-4-ethylphenol) has also been shown to have antiinflammatory properties and can be used as an additive in biodiesel.
