Beschreibung

(-)-Matairesinol is a lignan compound that has been identified as a natural product with antibacterial and antifungal properties. (-)-Matairesinol inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the penicillin-binding protein, which prevents the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It also binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting transcription and translation. (-)-Matairesinol has been shown to have minimal toxicity in vitro, with no significant cytotoxic effects on human HL-60 cells at concentrations up to 500 μM. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, as it can inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
