Beschreibung

Medicagenic acid is a trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) derivative of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. It has been used as an analytical reagent for the determination of galleria mellonella enzyme activities, including acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. Medicagenic acid has been shown to form stable complexes with hydroxyl groups and protocatechuic acid, which are present in polyvinyl chloride. These complexes can be detected by optical sensors. Medicagenic acid also has been shown to be an efficient inhibitor of human serum esterases, which may be due to its ability to bind to the catalytic site of these enzymes.
