4-Methoxybutan-1-amine is a depressant drug that is chemically related to ethane. It has been shown to produce anesthetic and sedative effects in dogs when given intravenously at high doses. 4-Methoxybutan-1-amine has been shown to reduce blood pressure by acting on the hypothalamus, subcortical, and cortical regions of the brain. The pharmacological properties of this compound are not well understood, but it has been shown to depress the central nervous system.
