Beschreibung:
a-Me-Trp-OH·1/2H2O is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the transport rate of serotonin in the brain. It binds to the serotonin transporter and prevents it from transporting serotonin into cells, which leads to an increase in extracellular levels of serotonin. The main function of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) is to stimulate smooth muscle contraction and regulate blood pressure. This drug has also been shown to be effective in inhibiting cycloheximide uptake and binding, which is an inhibitor of protein synthesis. This drug may have potential as a drug target for cancer treatments, as well as for diseases involving serotonergic systems such as depression or anxiety.
