Mefenpyr-diethyl binds to fatty acids that are present in plant membranes, preventing them from being released into the cytoplasm and inhibiting lipid synthesis. The gene analysis on fusarium avenaceum showed mutations in genes encoding proteins responsible for transporting phospholipids and fatty acids.
