4-Nitrophthalic anhydride is a diamine tetraacetic acid (DTA) analog with fluorescence properties. It has been shown to inhibit cholesterol synthesis in the presence of 3-nitrophthalic anhydride. 4-Nitrophthalic anhydride binds to chloride ions, forming stable complexes that are not easily hydrolyzed. The specific antibody recognizes this complex, which can be used as a diagnostic marker for sterol synthesis inhibition. Hydrochloric acid is used to solubilize 4-nitrophthalic anhydride and facilitate its dissolution in water. The detection time of 4-nitrophthalic anhydride is dependent on the pH of the solution.
