Beschreibung

2-(1-Naphthyloxy)propanoic acid is a chemical that can be used for screening bioassays. It is a racemic mixture of 1-naphthol and 2-naphthol. The optical rotation of the compound is an indication of its purity, with the purer compounds exhibiting optical rotation greater than +10 degrees. This compound has been shown to act as an elicitor for plant defense responses in planthoppers, and has also been shown to induce glomerella sp. (a fungus) growth in the presence of propionic acid. 2-(1-Naphthyloxy)propanoic acid inhibits microbial growth by acting as an acid derivative and it can be quantified by measuring its absorbance at 320 nm.
