• Beschreibung: 6-Nitro-1,3-benzothiazole (6NBT) is a hydrogen bonding inhibitor that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the reaction yield for the conversion of phenylalanine to tyrosine in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. 6NBT has also been shown to be a potential drug target for Alzheimer's disease due to its ability to bind to the active site residues in the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. It is believed that 6NBT interacts with the hydroxyl group at position Glu 99 and stabilizes it, which prevents this residue from undergoing hydrolysis. This will prevent the enzymatic cleavage of acetylcholine by acetylcholinesterase, leading to increased levels of this neurotransmitter in synapses and improved memory function.
