Beschreibung

Nalidixic acid sodium salt is a non-sulfonamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It has been shown to be effective against wild-type strains and drug-resistant strains, such as those resistant to tetracycline. Nalidixic acid sodium salt binds to the ribosome and blocks the peptidyl transferase activity, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. This antibiotic also has a signal peptide that allows it to enter bacterial cells, where it binds to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in order to inhibit DNA synthesis. Nalidixic acid sodium salt is highly soluble in water and biocompatible with living tissue, making it an ideal candidate for use in polymer materials for medical devices.
