This drug has a hydroxy group at the C19 position which is important for protein binding and metabolism. It is metabolized in the liver to produce propionate. 19-Nortestosterone acetate binds to steroid receptors in the nucleus to inhibit protein synthesis and decrease lipid synthesis by blocking the action of lipoprotein lipase, leading to weight loss.
