Nandrolone d3 is a prodrug that is converted to nandrolone by hydrolysis, most often in the liver. It has low affinity for sex hormone receptors and does not stimulate the production of estradiol. Nandrolone d3 binds to the estrogen receptor but has no estrogenic activity. The drug's mechanism of action may be related to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of proteins such as RNA polymerase II and DNA polymerase I, which are involved in gene transcription.
