Beschreibung

6a-Naltrexol is a synthetic opioid that has been shown to inhibit the binding of beta-endorphin and other endogenous opioids to opioid receptors. It has been used as an analgesic in chronic pain management, as a treatment for opioid dependence, and as a means of reducing the severity of withdrawal symptoms. The terminal half-life of 6a-naltrexol is approximately 20 hours. This drug can be detected in urine samples by means of chromatographic methods or chemical ionization, but not by receptor activity assays. In cell culture studies, 6a-naltrexol has been found to have a high absorption rate constant and low toxicity. Toxicity studies have been conducted in rats where it was found that 6a-naltrexol binds to opioid receptors with high affinity and specificity. It also inhibits the binding of beta-endorphin and other endogenous opioids to these receptors.
