Beschreibung

D-Neopterin is a metabolite of the nucleoside dihydrofolic acid (DHF) and is associated with bowel disease. D-Neopterin levels are increased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or ulcerative colitis, but decreased in Crohn's disease. It has been shown that D-neopterin may be used as a marker for IBD and active antiretroviral therapy. Studies have also shown that D-neopterin levels are elevated in patients with various types of cancer, such as solid tumours.
