3-Nitro-4-phenoxy-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid is a pyridine derivative that is used as an ingredient in food to impart yellow color. The compound has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of bacterial permeation, with inhibitory activity against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 3-Nitro-4-phenoxy-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid can be used for the detection of fluorescence in soil samples.
