Nor securinine is a naturally occurring compound that belongs to the group of alkaloids. It is a beta-lactam antibiotic and has been shown to be effective against inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and metabolic disorders. Nor securinine was first discovered in 1955 by chemists at the University of Michigan. The molecule is synthesized from the amino acid L-lysine. The synthesis method uses an agilent C18 column and a molecular weight of 268.3 g/mol. The chemical name for Nor securinine is L-2,6-diaminohexanoic acid, 2-methylene-1,4-benzenediol diacetate ester with 3-(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-(3′-phenylpropyl)benzoic acid methyl ester (1:1).
