• Beschreibung: Norgestimate is a synthetic, steroidal contraceptive that is a prodrug of nomegestrol acetate. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of infectious diseases such as bacterial vaginosis and inflammatory lesions such as acne. Norgestimate binds to progesterone receptors, which prevents follicular growth and ovulation by suppressing luteinizing hormone release. This drug also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of prostaglandins.; Norgestimate is metabolized into 17β-estradiol, which causes an increase in body mass index (BMI) and inhibits follicular growth by suppressing luteinizing hormone release.
