Beschreibung

3-(4-Oxo-2-thioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-3-yl)propanoic acid (TZT) is a novel antitubercular agent that has been shown to have broad antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria. TZT was synthesized and found to be an antibacterial agent with high potency. TZT's mode of action is thought to be related to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal 50S subunit. TZT is active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains and other Mycobacterium species, including Mycobacterium avium and Mycobacterium kansasii, but not against Staphylococcus aureus or Enterococcus faecalis.
