Beschreibung

2-Oxoimidazolidine-1-carbonyl chloride (2OICC) is a synthetic compound that belongs to a group of antibiotics. It is used to control the growth of bacteria in the food industry, and it has been shown to be effective against insect pests such as aphids, thrips, and whiteflies. 2OICC inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, blocking protein synthesis. The active form of 2OICC is hydrolyzed by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduced by glutathione reductase, or conjugated with glucuronic acid. 2OICC also specifically binds to markers expressed at high levels in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains (e.g., ESX-1 secretion system protein) and inhibits cell growth in culture.
