Beschreibung

Octadecamethylcyclononasiloxane is a silicon-containing molecule, which has been shown to have antihypertensive activity. It works by inhibiting the production of angiotensin II, a key regulator of blood pressure, and thereby reducing blood pressure. Octadecamethylcyclononasiloxane also exhibits tumor-promoting activities in some animal models. This molecule is used as a surface active agent in many household products such as dishwashing detergents, shampoos, and cosmetics. It is also used as an acid catalyst in organic synthesis and in the manufacture of magnetic particles for use in biotechnology.
A fatty acid ester with functional groups that can be found on its surface may contribute to octadecamethylcyclononasiloxane's cancer-promoting activities.
