cis-Octahydroisoindole is a synthetic chemical that is used in wastewater treatment. It is a chloride ion scavenger and can be used to remove the chemical from the water before it enters the sewage system. cis-Octahydroisoindole has been shown to have an effect on blood glucose levels. It has also been used as a reagent in industrial preparations, such as diethyl succinate. This compound reacts with ferrite and hydroxide solution to form ferric octahydroisoindole, which can then be processed into other chemicals.
