Beschreibung:
Cotinine is a major metabolite of nicotine in humans and other mammals. It is an alkaloid with a pyridine ring structure, which is present in tobacco leaves. Cotinine has been shown to have immunogenic properties that can be used as a vaccine adjuvant to stimulate antibody production. The protein-protein interaction between cotinine and the nicotine receptor has been studied and may be useful for future research on vaccines against addictive substances such as tobacco.
