Oxazole-2-carboxylic acid is a molecule that has been shown to have inhibitory properties against cellular senescence. It is synthesized from an amide, which is an organic compound consisting of a carbonyl group linked to a nitrogen atom. The synthesis process involves the reaction of an amine with an isocyanate. Oxazole-2-carboxylic acid can be found in marine microorganisms and some cancer cells. It also has hydroxyl groups, which are reactive chemical groups that contain one hydrogen atom covalently bonded to one oxygen atom. Oxazole-2-carboxylic acid may be used for the treatment of cardiovascular disorders and ovarian cells by inhibiting the production of angiotensin II, a hormone that causes blood vessels to narrow and increases blood pressure.
