2-(1-Oxy-pyridin-2-yl)-1,1,3,3-tetramethylisothiouronium tetrafluoroborate (2-OPT) is a novel anti-inflammatory compound that has been shown to bind to the 5HT receptor. 2OPT has been found to be effective in treating depression in animal models and is being studied as a potential treatment for human depression. In addition, studies have shown that 2OPT may inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells by blocking the production of nitric oxide. The crystalline structure of 2OPT is shown below:
