Beschreibung

Orcinol dimethyl ether is a colorless liquid that is used for perfume. It has a strong, pleasant odor with a floral character. The presence of methoxy groups in the molecule makes it soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform and benzene. Orcinol dimethyl ether has been shown to be effective in the treatment of pain caused by dental caries, as well as other conditions such as hemorrhoids and burns. Other biological activities of orcinol dimethyl ether include its ability to inhibit plant cell growth and to produce fatty acid synthesis, which may be due to its synthetic pathway.
