4-(1H-Pyrrol-1-yl)-phenol (4PP) is a reactive compound that can be used for the treatment of bacterial infections. It has been shown to inhibit bacterial enzymes, such as the enzyme pyrazinamidase, which is responsible for the conversion of pyrazinoic acid to pyridoxic acid. 4PP exhibits pharmacokinetic properties that are dependent on redox potentials and pH, and it also has genotoxic effects. The molecular modeling of 4PP has revealed that it binds to fatty acids in the cancer cell membrane and inhibits their ability to interact with lipoproteins. The binding of 4PP to these fatty acids prevents them from forming lipid rafts, which are essential for cellular signaling pathways.
