Phenylisothiocyanate sodium salt reacts with trifluoroacetic acid to form phenylisothiocyanate, which reacts with human serum albumin (HSA) to form an adduct. The adsorption of phenylisothiocyanate onto HSA leads to a change in the conformation of HSA, which affects the physiological effects of this protein.
