Pentaethylene glycol has been used as a solvent for polymers, such as polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, and polypropylene, but can also be found in pharmaceuticals such as anti-diarrheal agents or eye drops.; Pentaethylene glycol is also used as surfactant in some biological samples, including blood serum and urine.
