Beschreibung

Potassium ethyl xanthogenate is a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) activator that can be used to activate nucleic acids in the presence of hydrogen bonding interactions. The redox potential of potassium ethyl xanthogenate is high enough to allow for the oxidation of sulfides and disulfides, but low enough to prevent oxidation of nucleic acids. In water, potassium ethyl xanthogenate has been shown to catalyze the reaction mechanism for wastewater treatment by the formation of hydroxide ions and carbon dioxide. Potassium ethyl xanthogenate also has a coordination geometry that allows it to bind with metal ions such as sodium carbonate, which can be used for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
