It has been shown to bind levopimaric acid and chlorine atom, forming the diazonium salt. The diazonium salt can be converted into the corresponding dye by using an oxidation catalyst at a temperature that is greater than or equal to 250 degrees Celsius. This process can be done in either a supercritical fluid or a particle suspension. Pigment violet 23 exhibits a purple color when dissolved in organic solvents, making it an excellent candidate for analytical methods that use colorimetric reactions.
