Prosulfuron is a herbicide that inhibits the growth of plants by blocking the production of amino acids. It binds to the enzyme acyl-CoA carboxylase, which is required for the biosynthesis of fatty acid, and blocks its activity. Prosulfuron has been shown to be synergistic with palladium-catalyzed coupling in dry weight measurements. This method has been used to prepare polyclonal antibodies against triticum aestivum, which are then used as analytical tools in determining the amount of transport inhibitor in a sample. This herbicide has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on fatty acid synthesis and transport, which may be due to its ability to bind with site specific binding sites on fatty acid synthase enzymes.
