Beschreibung

Posizolid is a cationic surfactant that contains a quaternary ammonium group. It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. Posizolid binds to the nuclear dna of the bacteria and alters the way it interacts with other cells, which inhibits the replication of DNA. This prevents the formation of new cells and results in cell death. Posizolid also has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial functions in vitro. This drug has been shown to be toxic for prostate cancer cells in vitro and may have therapeutic potential for this disease.
