Beschreibung:Z-Phe-Pro-OH is a pentafluorophenyl activated solvent. It is an amino acid with a hydrophobic side chain that is able to form amide bonds with nucleophiles such as the chloroformate in the presence of catalytic amounts of sodium methoxide. This reaction yields the product in high yield and purity, while having little to no effect on other amino acids present. Z-Phe-Pro-OH can also be used as a transpeptidase catalyst, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the formation of peptide bonds between two amino acids. The mutant sequence of this enzyme can be isolated by chloroformate mutagenesis, which can then be purified by crystallization techniques.
