Beschreibung

1-Pyridin-2-ylpropan-2-ol is a ferromagnetic, paramagnetic and orthorhombic solid. 1-Pyridin-2-ylpropan-2-ol has magnetic properties that are temperature dependent. At low temperatures, the substance is antiferromagnetic and at high temperatures it is ferromagnetic. The transition between these two states occurs at around -145°C. 1-Pyridin-2-ylpropan-2-ol displays a broad electronic spectrum with a maximum near 200 nm. This compound can be prepared by reacting pyridine with formaldehyde and then hydrogenating the product.
