Beschreibung

Poly(allylamine) solution is a polymer that has been shown to have strong antimicrobial properties. It inhibits the activity of various enzymes, such as esterases and proteases, by binding to their active sites. Poly(allylamine) solution is also used in the treatment of tumors with fluorescence detection or as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging. This polymer can be prepared by reacting anhydrous sodium with allylamine in trifluoroacetic acid at room temperature. The reaction mechanism is not well understood, but it may involve allylation of amines on the polymer chains, which inhibits cell lysis.
