This binding inhibits the uptake of fatty acids into the peroxisome and prevents peroxisome proliferation. The dry weight of cells exposed to perfluorodecanesulfonate sodium was significantly lower than control cells after evaporation. This result may be due to its ability to bind water molecules and decrease their availability for cellular processes.
