In addition to its use as a pigment or paint additive, 1,3-PDAS has been used for water treatment and as an analytical reagent for measuring amines in organic chemicals. This compound is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol or acetone. 1,3-PDAS can be crystallized from its hydrolysate by evaporating the solvent.
