Pyrithiobacsodium is a biological product that inhibits the activity of enzymes. It is used as an herbicide that inhibits the enzyme acetyl CoA carboxylase, which is essential for plant growth. Pyrithiobac sodium has been shown to inhibit squamous carcinoma cells in vitro and in vivo. This compound has also been shown to have a high level of resistance to mammalian tissue and fatty acids, making it difficult for it to be metabolized by these tissues. Pyrithiobac sodium also has analytical methods, such as HPLC and GC-MS, which are used to identify this compound.
