• Beschreibung: Polyhexamethyleneguanidine HCl (PHMG) is an experimental drug that is being studied for the treatment of infectious diseases. PHMG has been shown to be cytotoxic to resistant bacterial mutants and significant cell death was observed in response to low doses. PHMG has also been shown to have inhibitory properties against a number of different viruses, including influenza virus, herpes simplex virus type 1, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The mechanism of action of PHMG is not well understood but it has been suggested that it may act by inhibiting toll-like receptor signaling pathways or by blocking mitochondrial membrane potential. PHMG can also be used as a disinfectant and its analytical method is based on its ability to react with lead ions.
