Polyvinyl sulfate potassium salt is a polymer that contains 17,000 to 22,000 repeating units of vinyl sulfate. It has been shown to interact with the surface of red blood cells and inhibit the enzyme activity of guanine nucleotide-binding proteins. Polyvinyl sulfate potassium salt also inhibits HIV infection by binding to the surface glycoprotein gp120.
