Beschreibung:Prednicarbate, USP is a drug that belongs to the class of corticosteroids. It has been used to treat alopecia areata as well as inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and seborrheic dermatitis. Prednicarbate, USP functions by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins in the skin. This action reduces inflammation and protects against damage to the epidermal barrier. Prednicarbate, USP has also been shown to inhibit phospholipase A2 activity in vitro and has a favorable chemical stability profile. The drug is metabolized through glucuronidation in humans and animals. Prednicarbate is highly lipophilic with a high affinity for fatty acids which may lead to its accumulation in adipose tissue. The drug also binds to receptors on inflammatory cells which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory properties.
