Poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (regioregular) is a polymer that possesses an average molecular weight of 85,000 to 100,000. It has been shown to be useful as a light absorber for solar cells. Poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (regioregular) is composed of repeating units of 3 hexylthiophene and 2,5-hexadiene units. The presence of the perovskite structure in the polymer enables it to absorb light well. In experiments this polymer was able to absorb 95% of the incident light. This polymer also mitigates natural environmental factors such as heat and humidity that can cause degradation or decomposition.
