• Beschreibung: Pemetrexed is a chemotherapeutic drug that is used to treat cancer. It belongs to the group of drugs called antifolates and inhibits the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, which is required for the synthesis of DNA. Pemetrexed has a stable crystal form and can be stored at room temperature. It can be dissolved in water or in an organic solvent such as diethyl ether or methylene chloride. The pemetrexed esters are prepared by reaction of pemetrexed with pentanedioic acid or diethyl tetra-methylene glutarate, followed by esterification with dimethyl or methyl chloride. Pemetrexed disodium has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in patients with colon cancer and non-small cell lung cancer.
