Beschreibung

1,2,3,7,8-Pentachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin is a polychlorinated dibenzodioxin that binds to the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and activates gene transcription. It has been shown to disrupt the expression of genes that are involved in fatty acid synthesis and methyl transferase reactions. This compound also inhibits the activity of human serum enzymes such as β-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase and β-ketoacyl reductase. The AhR is a transcription factor that regulates the expression of many genes in response to toxic substances.
