Beschreibung:Phenylacetone is a compound that is used in the synthesis of various drugs, including amphetamine and methamphetamine. Phenylacetone can be synthesized by reacting phenylacetic acid with either sodium or methyl ethyl ketone. This intermediate reacts with methyl ethyl ketone to form phenylacetone, which is then hydrolyzed to produce methamphetamine. Phenylacetone also has the ability to react with hydrogen peroxide and form 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde and benzene.
