Beschreibung

Pioglitazone N-oxide is a section of the drug pioglitazone, which is an oral anti-diabetic medication. Pioglitazone N-oxide has been shown to be active against typhimurium and virulent strains of bacteria. Pioglitazone N-oxide also has acidic properties that enable it to function as an antigen in immunological reactions. This drug substance is prepared by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and purified by preparative HPLC. Pioglitazone N-oxide can be used for the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease. The cancer cell growth inhibitory effects of pioglitazone N-oxide have been shown in animal models. It also inhibits the growth factor activity, which may contribute to its anticancer effects.
